tokana's Diaryland Diary ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I'd rather be here now As always I find myself struggling to find a balance between ‘enjoying the journey’ and ‘planning for the future’. This is not only common for me, but also (I think) for most people around my age. I try so hard to enjoy the moment, be spontaneous, live for today, etc. etc. without neglecting important things like financial planning, career goals, school etc etc. It’s a tough balance to find. Today I saw a bumper sticker that made me think of all this. It said I’d rather be here now. I really liked it. I always hated the 'I’d rather be _________ (insert activity)' or 'I’d rather be in ________ (insert location)' - every time I see one I think 'Well, then get on with it! Go or do!' Currently, as I read their 'I'd rather be...' bumpersticker they aren't doing what they enjoy, when they found and purchased it they weren't doing what they enjoy...all this time wasted not doing what they enjoy? If we could all genuinely say that we are content right where we are...that would be grand. Just a random thought train… 1:13 p.m. - March 08, 2005 ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
