tokana's Diaryland Diary ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Catnip, Votes and Rekindled frienship We’ve moved. We’re fairly settled in, just need to hang curtains and art. I think we’re all slowly adjusting to living together too. C and John get along better than I had anticipated - a good sign. Roger seems to be used to the new condo, but he’s much more skittish than he used to be, we can’t figure out why…I’m taking Catnip home tonight to see if getting him high helps calm him down. ;-) As I predicted, things are moving quickly with C. He got released from his contract last night which is the equivalent of giving two week’s notice. Yay! He will have all the hours he needs by 9pm tonight. Double yay! This weekend he starts refining his resume and preparing for interviews. There have also been changes in the airline industry (big surprise there). When C and I met, his first choice for employment was Comair, based out of Cincinnati. Since then, Comair has slowed down their hiring drastically not only making it difficult to get hired, but also making the move up the seniority ladder slower since less people are coming in after you. Well, Comair’s new CEO has proposed a deal between management and employees that will help ‘grow the company’. If the employees agree there will be pay freezes and an extension of the union contract for one year, there will also be 35 new planes purchased and 400 pilots hired. The vote took place in stages throughout February and ended on March 1st, the results have not yet been announced. If they vote for the freeze and are hiring 400 pilots in the next year, C is going to interview with them. If they hire him in April he will fly up the seniority ladder since there will be 399 people hired right after him, which is awesome. If that happens he will be based out of Cincinnati (that is their only hub) which is fine for me since the University of Cincinnati has an awesome program for my major. If they for against the freeze he will stick with SkyWest. Either way, he should be leaving within a month. This is amazing for him, he’s wanted this since he was very young. It kinda sucks for me, with him way across the country for so long, but I’m sure I will cope. I’m already making plans to keep myself busy. On another note: Candice, my bestest friend from high school, is back in town. She’s here for a couple of weeks and has the adorable Jace with her. We hung out, just the two of us (Jace was busy drooling) for the first time in years. It was a lot of fun. We just sat around and talked, but I forgot how much fun and fulfilling that could be. We’ve known each other for going on 8 years – that’s a long time. We didn’t actually talk about ‘back in the day’ much at all, but there were so many topics we touched on relating to our current lives, in which that the fact that we knew the background and events from ‘back in the day’, made things so much easier to explain. I forgot how important friends like that are… Current mood: Content. :o) 12:32 p.m. - March 03, 2005 ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
