tokana's Diaryland Diary ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Brunch @ Greystone One of C's old students, Doug, is now an instructor himself. He currently has a student, Kevin, who needed to go up for a 'cross country' to complete a lesson. Kevin decided that if he had to fly that far he may as well go somewhere neat. So, be a fluke he found out that on the first Sunday of every month there is a "fly-in" brunch out an an exclusive 'aviation community' called 'Jumbolair'. On Friday we had dinner with Doug who mentions Kevin's idea and that he is going to look into getting reservations. Then, he finishs this statement off by mentioning that the backseat will be empty - would we want to tag along? C and I always up for an adventure said - hell yeah! Jumbolair is most famous for having John Travolta's home there. At his house there he has two enormous garages, one for his Gulfstream and the other for his Boeing707. The brunch is a marketing deal that is held in the ballroom adjacent to the inn on the property. It is $25 per person and was quite delicious. The community has it's own full size airstrip referred to as Greystone but there isn't really an airport. While we didn't actually get to see or meet John, we did get to see his house. We also stuffed ourselves with yummy food, saw a lot of really nice (and expensive) airplanes and had a really really good time. It was my first time up during the day so I took tons of pictures which you can see here - just click on the 'Greystone' album. On a different note - I posted more pictures of Roger as well. 6:36 p.m. - February 07, 2005 ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
