tokana's Diaryland Diary ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Gator Voyeurs This past weekend C and I had one of those very lazy, yet very full weekends where we had very few plans, didn't have many places we had to be, so we just went with the flow.
We slept a lot (which was very nice).
Much to our chagrin the pancake place had a 2 hour wait. So, instead we ended up at Sonic for burgers and then stopped in at Blue Springs only to discover the Manatees had left for the season. At this point was still early and C and I were still up for more excitement before our afternoon nap. On our way back to the house we drove by Lake Monroe and just in driving by we saw an alligator in the water. So, being the inquisitive couple that we are, we pulled over and got out to investigate. Of course, we stayed on the shore, and kept our flip-flopped feet well away from the mucky swamp. Just from standing by the road we spotted about a dozen smaller gators (about 1-1 1/2 feet long) and one big mammoth guy that was about 7-8 feet long. We must have spent about half an hour exploring the banks of the lake hoping to witness a fight or a feeding of some sort. Of course, had we gone to Gatorland we would have been bored and done with it in no time. But because these guys were out in the wild we were totally intrigued. I was so pissed off that I didn’t have a camera on me. I have decided to revert to my old habit of keeping a disposable on me at all times. You never know… Anyhow, that was our adventure for the weekend.
